Why do you want to live?

Life - Techincally, the time period from the first heart beat to the last one. At an average for a human, the time period is 60 years. But do we really 'live' the entire 60 years? No,not really. It's the middle part. Not the innocent, ignorant childhood. Not the fading, grey haired old-age. Its when each and every human has the strength to fight for what he wants.

There are very few fundamental forces driving life.

1. Survival instinct - Fear of the unknown. Fear of death.
2. Immortality - Desire to etch one's name in history books.(Passion-driven).
3. Bilogical and Social bonds - All forms of attraction and attachments.

Some people have more than one. Some people have just one. These are broad classifications of all the answers you get, if you randomly ask someone, "Why do you want to live?"

Let's take each one of them.

1. Survival instinct is like a reflex action.

You try to move away from a truck heading towards you.
You try to hold on to something when you fall.
You dont touch an electric wire.

These are all simulated responses to the unknown fears or danger. This surely cannot be a reason to live. We cant live because we can. So, I am ruling out this reason with utmost assurance that this cant be the reason for life.

2.Immortaliy :

This is a very good driving force. To live beyond death. Unfortunately, this for those beyond normal human capabilities. Innate qualities that make some people stand out. Not for the majority of human race

3. Attachments and Attractions:

This has to be the biggest contender. Most people fear dying because they fear what might happen to their loved ones, if they are not around. This almost explains why life is so important.

But I hereby list various points to support the opposition :

What are the different possible attractions?

1. Professional
2. Emotional
3. Financial
4. Biological
5. Spiritual

What are the different possible attachments?

1. Maternal
2. Paternal
3. Sibling
4. Friendship
5. Love
6. Relational

All attractions are deemed as silly. They are considered to be cheap. Therefore, they can not be a reason. However, attachments are regarded very high by the human race. The selfless acts of  human beings occur when they are attached. However, the problem with attachments, they cant last the entire duration. Physical and emotional seperation eventually creeps in and that is the time when each and every human feel, "life" is actually over.

So, I conclude, the difference between life and existence is attachment. Especially to fellow human beings. Its the simplest connect we can have on life. Cut that out, we are just object occupying mass and capable of motion. Find a person worth living for, not worth dying for and live all out for them.... there in lies your fundamental force of nature. The link.. The unrelinquishable bond called life.
